My name is Phil Nealey. I am a professional photographer and digital artist. For more than 10 years now, I have been creating imagery for advertising either behind the camera or in front of a computer, creating digital composites and illustrations. I’ve worked for clients that include McDonald’s, Disney, Blockbuster, Sears, Con Agra, Sprint, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Burger King, Taco Bell, Crate and Barrel, Dole, Morton Salt, Crain’s Chicago Business, Leo Burnett, Publicis, FCB Draft, DDB and many others. For the past several years I have been shooting stock photography for Getty Images, and recently Somos (now a part of Corbis) From 1996 to 2004 I was a co-founder and partner in e-Light studios. Well respected photographer Walter Gray, Michael Lande and I, created a company to provide high-end retouching and digital compositing for Walter’s already established clients. We were among a handful of pioneers including photographers like Jeff Schewe, Gerald Bybee and John Lund attempting to do this kind of work on Macintosh computers. Later we helped our biggest client, McDonald’s, make the transition from film to digital, before Cannon or Nikon made their own digital cameras. (we had two 16mp Dicomed “Bigshots”) Going digital necessitated getting involved in early efforts at color management, digital proofing, and digital asset management. For several years my business partner and I worked hard at promoting and educating about digital photography and the issues surrounding it. We spoke at Seybold seminars and MacWorld on a few occasions, to gain some industry acceptance of these technologies. Of course now these things are the norm. I’ve always enjoyed sharing whatever I have discovered or learned from others. So hopefully I can continue to help with the spread of information on this site.
